Winter Warmers - Soup Recipes with TEA

You can amplify the pleasures of food with our favourite teas; adding grassy, herbal, sweet and even smoky notes to classic recipes to give them deeper complex tastes.

Due to the season we have chosen some tasty hearty soup recipes that introduce a contrasting tea ingredient for you to try next time you need a warming lunch choice.

Jasmine Chicken Noodle Soup

 

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • 8 cups chicken broth bone broth if you have it
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 2 cups chicken breast cooked and chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped
  • 1 cup carrots chopped
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 1 medium zucchini spiraled
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot Yoga Tea or experiment with cinnamon, black pepper, ginger and cardamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Pea & Green Tea Soup

Ingredients:

  • 240g frozen peas
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tablespoon sweet white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup canned coconut milk
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup brewed Sencha Green Tea (1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea)

Smoky Tomato & Lentil

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon safflower, grapeseed, or other neutral oil
  • 1 medium white onion, finely chopped (1 cup)
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, peeled, roasted, and finely chopped (1 cup)
  • 3 cups Lapsang Souchong brewed (1 tablespoon loose)
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup French lentils
  • 1 (28-ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes 
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
